Chocolate is derived from the Mayan word Chocol'ha, which means to drink Cacao. Known as the Food of Gods, Mayan royalty often consumed cacao as a luxurious hot drink. Our delicious Hot Chocolate blend combines the rich flavour of sustainably sourced fairtrade cacao powder with the nutty, caramel notes of lucuma and maca . It is lightly sweetened with organic coconut sugar to create a convenient, delicious hot chocolate drink with benefits.
Cacao, the main ingredient in this delicious blend, must not be confused with 'cocoa' - a very popular ingredient in most supermarket hot chocolate mixes. Although both come from the Theobroma tree, Cacao is the powder in its purest form - minimally processed and roasted at very low temperatures. Cacao does, therefore, deliver higher levels of copper which contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, the protection of cells from oxidative stress and to normal function of the nervous system. Our Fairtrade Cacao is sourced from Africa and is extracted only from the finest cocoa beans from well-established farming cooperatives.
